Of course then you have to wait to ferment it for a couple of weeks and then bottle and condition it....

It is a brilliant hobby and when you eventually move on to all grain, which takes up to 8 hours to brew you have a full scale obsession on your hands as well as better beer than you can buy from most liquor stores and most bars.Reuben Gray - TaleOfAlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15948722985150698273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7564911804439059522.post-52730567597794073082010-04-22T23:16:07.014+01:002010-04-22T23:16:07.014+01:00Good info on the process. I will see if I can get the kit shipped to Spain and I will let you know how it goes :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06523212118107680614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7564911804439059522.post-81755083528346858142010-04-04T17:17:30.654+01:002010-04-04T17:17:30.654+01:00One other point, it's a hobby that obviously a...One other point, it's a hobby that obviously also ties in very well to breadmaking. The spent grains from a brew make a lovely wholegrain bread.
The yeast is also reusable in bread recipes.
Not to mention beer bread, where bad beers tend to go to die, you can cook off your beer making mistakes :)Eoin Magrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296053655288563194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7564911804439059522.post-6010985498118753982010-04-04T14:43:39.602+01:002010-04-04T14:43:39.602+01:00There are two steps to it, the cleaning where I fi...There are two steps to it, the cleaning where I fill my bath with stuff, starting anything up to two weeks before I am going to brew to get things clean. It allows me to take it nice and slowly and not have to do lots in one night.
If I have a lot of bottles this is certainly the way I tend to do it. Then on the day of a brew it just remains to sanitise and then away you go.
You can also save yourself a lot of work by rinsing equipment as it becomes dirty and then the yeast and crud doesn't get a chance to dry on.
Cleaning is certainly the most tedious part of it, especially where that ties in with bottling.
With regard to the time it takes, like anything as you get au fait with the processes it becomes faster and easier. The other thing to remember is the old adage that anything worth doing is worth taking time over, that is definitely the case with brewing.Eoin Magrathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03296053655288563194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7564911804439059522.post-56138253323443714922010-04-04T14:06:08.631+01:002010-04-04T14:06:08.631+01:00Great post Eoin. By comparison making bread is a cinch.Aidanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14634020914060592767noreply@blogger.com
